Once you’ve reached your 30s, you’re not old by any standards! That being said, some things do start to change around this decade of your life and it’s important to pay attention to those changes and treat your body accordingly. Staying healthy well into your 30s and much beyond is very possible, you just may have to make some slight adjustments. Here are 3 tips to help you to head in that direction.

Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

Remember that mental health is health too and stressing out about small issues in your life is not good for your mental and emotional well being. For example, trying to find a plumber can send you over the edge because of how stressful it is. Even something important may be a lot smaller than it feels in the moment though, so take a step back and consider what will actually happen if the outcome doesn’t go as planned.

9 times out of 10 the thing that has you panicked is actually a very small thing, and can probably even wait until tomorrow to be figured out. Give yourself a break sometimes and learn how to identify big stuff from smaller stuff so that you can relax a little. Your 30-something mind and body will both be better for it.

Don’t Overdo It

While you are still young and fully capable of leading an active lifestyle, it’s smart to pay attention to any clues your body gives you when it’s tired or injured. Don’t try to overdo it by working long hours or too many days in a row, or by pushing yourself too hard during a workout. Know your limits and listen to your body when it is telling you it’s had enough. Don’t skimp out on sleep and remember to take breaks and days off whenever needed. All of these things will pay off in the long run.

Preventative Health Care

If you don’t already have health insurance, try to get it as soon as possible. In your 30s is a great time to start getting some preventative health care so that you can catch issues before they begin or underlying disease before it becomes a much bigger problem. Get yourself a primary care doctor whom not only you can call or schedule a visit with for any concerns you may have but who also will perform regular tests on you to make sure that you are staying healthy at all times.

Staying healthy at any stage of life is important, and just because your 30s feel a little different than your 20s did, that doesn’t mean you’re failing at that! Making some small changes like the ones on this list will help ensure that you will be your best and healthiest self for years to come.
